JUST IN: Barr. Ezugwu Gets Handover Reports From HPM, Vows to Tackle Insecurity
•Just as Council Chair Holds Closed-Door Meeting With Security ChiefS.
•Legislative Council Gets New leadership
The Executive Chairman Of Uzo Uwani Local Government Area, Barr. Chijioke Ezugwu, on Thursday, October 8, pledged to address the security challenges confronting the local council as well as provide transformative leadership in the LGA.
Ezugwu who was handed the transition report by the Head of Personnel (HPM) of the council, Barr. Ugwueke at the council secretariat in Umulokpa, also inaugurated the LGA's legislative Council, amid cheers by onlookers.
Shortly after the inauguration of the legislative Council, the Councilors across the 17 LGAs, unanimously elected their leadership, with Hon. Christian Nwabueze, representing Ogurugu ward, emerging leader of the house, while Hon. Okafor Joakin, representing Ukpata ward, clinched the Deputy leadership of the legislative Council.
Other elected principal officials of the legislative Council include: Hon Obochi Cletus, Majority leader; Okoro Nnamdi, Deputy Majority Leader; Hon. Nwachukwu Moses, Deputy Majority Leader and Agu chidiebere, Deputy Chief Whip.
Meanwhile the council Chairman had earlier held a closed door meeting with security chiefs in the council Area, with the security eggheads briefing the Executive chairman on the current security situation of the LGA.
Top security personnel in attendance during the meeting include the Area commander, Nsukka, ACP Yahaya; DPO Umulokpa Division, DSP, Eze Friday; DPO Adani, SP Patrick Anike; CSP Ogonna Chime, DPO Nimbo; Corp. M. Zakaria, Adani command; CSC. Ogri Raphael, NSCDC Command Army; Nwabuisi Sylvanus, NHW.
The Council Boss, was also received by the civil servants of the LGA, led by the chairman National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in the local council, Comr. Festus Okeagu and the state exco of NULGE in the LGA, Comr. Raphael Eze.
Addressing the gathering, Barr. Ezugwu rallied supports of the council workers in achieving developmental goals of his administration in line with Governor Peter Mbah's disruptive agenda. He However, use the opportunity to thank God almighty for giving him the privilege to serve the local council, while assuring them that he would work in synergy with the LG workers to ensure security of the LGA.
Barr. Ezugwu also assured the workers of fairness in their promotion and rewards according to the civil service rules.
"I THANK GOD ALMIGHTY FOR THIS GREAT PRIVILEGE TO SERVE YOU AS your COUNCIL CHAIRMAN. I EQUALLY THANK His Excellency, our dear governor for making this day possible, just as I thank all of you for voting for me.
"I want to assure you that I will work to end insecurity in our LGA. I will also work to ensure fairness in all that concerns the civil servants, Just as I will will work for the overall interest of the council"; he said
Those in attendance during the function include the vice chairman of the he LGA, Lady Vera Ezugwu; Chairman of the PDP in the LGA, Hon. Kingsley Ani; immediate Past Chairman of the PDP in the LGA, Hon. Jude ifeanyi Okonkwo; former SSA to the former Governor of the State, Sir Vitalis Okonkwo; Perm. Sec., Chinonso Anigbo (MNI, PHD) and the Pioneer PDP Chairman of the LGA, Chief Simon Nwabueze; among others.
