Enugu LG Elections: PDP Candidate Promises Daily Market to Boost Local Economy

Enugu LG Elections: PDP Candidate Promises Daily Market to Boost Local Economy

In a vibrant gathering at Premier Primary School, Ukpabi-Nimbo, supporters of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), including community and religious leaders from the Igbo-Ano Development Center, rallied to welcome the party's Chairmanship candidate, Barrister Chijioke Ezugwu.

During his speech, Ezugwu expressed gratitude for the overwhelming turnout and emphasized the importance of establishing a modern daily market in Uzo-Uwani. "Uzo-Uwani deserves a modern daily market where goods and services can be exchanged," he stated. "We are blessed with agricultural resources and an abundance of timber. A central market will not only help sell our goods but will also generate revenue for our community."

He further elaborated on the current situation regarding timber sales. "Currently, we take our timbers to Nsukka, Enugu, Onitsha, and beyond to sell. However, we can gather at a central market and attract traders from various states who are interested in our timber products. Our government can purchase timber from local individuals and resell it to these traders," Ezugwu explained.

Addressing rising concerns about security, he urged the community to take collective responsibility, stating, "No government or individual can tackle insecurity alone. It requires collaboration from the locals." He highlighted the need to tackle unemployment to mitigate crime: "Unemployment is on the rise, as is insecurity. We appreciate the efforts of His Excellency in addressing youth unemployment, and I pledge to collaborate with our Governor to reduce it. A decrease in unemployment will significantly curb crime and criminality."

In response, various community leaders, religious figures, and youth representatives voiced their support for Ezugwu and his vision, assuring him of their backing from Nimbo, Ugbene, Abbi, and Nrobo.
