 SECURITY: Uzo-Uwani Youth Root for Ezugwu, laud Governor Mbah's vision

Ahead of the forthcoming chairmanship and councilorship elections in Enugu State, the Youth under the aegis of 'Uzo-Uwani Youth Coalition', UYC has expressed their happiness over the emergence of Barr. Chijioke Ezugwu as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship candidate in the local government, stating that since his emergence the insecurity in the area has dropped drastically.

The group equally lauded the vision of the Enugu State governor, Peter Mbah, stating that his developmental strides in the state and his efforts in tackling the insecurity bedeviling the state, especially in Uzo-Uwani is yielding adequate results. 

This was made known by the President of the group, Apostle Mike Ogbobe in a statement he issued on Wednesday during the general meeting of the association.

Ogbobe, described Ezugwu as a prayer answered for the good people of Uzo-Uwani, declaring that since he emerged as the candidate of the PDP, much security presence is being recorded in the area.

According to him, Ezugwu immediately after he won the PDP Chairmanship  primaries convened a crucial meeting with all the vigilantes in the council and implored them to always be on guard to secure the lives and property of our people, while promising them adequate support.

"It appears like a magic how the insecurity in our council has drastically dropped. The road from Nimbo to Adani which had appeared nearly impassable because of persistent kidnapping and robbery had ceased. We no longer hear bad news coming from Uzo-Uwani and our farmers are now visiting their farms freely without being scared of miscreants.

"Left to us, the Uzo-Uwani Youth Coalition, we would say let other candidates from other parties bury their ambition but because we are in democracy, they should go and exercise their franchise. We know that the youth of Uzo-Uwani are strongly with Ezugwu because we can't go for the less. 

"The truth remains that our parents, brothers and sisters can now sleep with their two eyes closed since Chijioke's name came into the political space of Uzo-Uwani. He is already doing enough, how much more when he gets the political power," Ogbobe said.

The group also passed a note of warning to any person or group of persons who would wish to launch any media attack on the personality of Ezugwu to refrain, urging them to sit and enjoy the fresh breeze which Ezugwu has already brought to Uzo-Uwani.

Ogbobe, equally  thanked Governor Mbah for ensuring that the best emerged in Uzo-Uwani as candidate of PDP, stressing that Uzo-Uwani needs the same energy in which Ezugwu used to eradicate the consumption of illicit drugs and other criminal activities in the council during his days as the Chief Security Officer of the area into administering the council for a better growth of everybody.

"Ezugwu's efforts in stopping the spread of methamphetamine (Mkpurummiri) and other hard substances in the council area can never be forgotten in a haste. We need that same energy in the governance of Uzo-Uwani. It shows he knows what it means to be a leader and chief security of the area," he said.
