Empowering Women in Agriculture: WOSCONET Commends Enugu State Governor

The Women Support Women Community Network (WOSCONET) has expressed its gratitude to Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, for his efforts to empower women in agriculture. This follows the enrollment of Enugu women and youths in the 90-Day Youth Free Agro Boot Camp at Songhai Farms, Owerri, Imo State.

The boot camp, sponsored by the Enugu State Government, Mastercard Foundation, and Songhai Farms, aims to increase youth involvement in agriculture. WOSCONET President, Mrs. Amaka Nweke, praised the governor for his commitment to agricultural development and food security, describing the initiative as a significant step towards empowering women and youth in agriculture.

Nweke announced that some WOSCONET members are beneficiaries of the ongoing distribution of free fertilizers, power tillers, and other agro-inputs for registered farmers in Enugu State. This is a result of WOSCONET's collaboration with the State Ministry of Agriculture and Agroindustrialisation, led by Commissioner Patrick Nwabueze Ubru, who ensured WOSCONET members were included in agricultural support programmes.

The initiative demonstrates the Enugu State Government's dedication to promoting gender equality and empowering women in agriculture, aligning with WOSCONET's mission to support women's economic development and social empowerment.
